Rental deposit not in scheme

Hello, I handed my tenancy notice in to leave towards the end of this month. I have asked the letting agent to give me details of the scheme they used for my deposit. They just seem to keep fobbing me off.
I have been here 2 years and at the start I did send various emails (of which I still have) asking where my bond is held. I never got a proper answer so just left it. I have since been in touch with the 3 deposit schemes and it seems that none of them have my details.
My question is do I just wait until I leave the property and hope they give me my money which they might just do, or is there a process I need to follow to take this further?
I saw a review on google from a lady who had the same issue, she emailed & phoned them for several weeks then finally threatened with court action before they gave up the bond.
Although there was no inspection or inventory when I moved in, I have looked after the property so believe I am due the full amount back.

have you searched the schemes to check that your deposit is not protected?0

You can sue the Landlord 3 x deposit if they haven't put it in a TDS.0

Did the landlord live in the same building? If so probably doesn't need to protect deposit. We await you answer!0

The landlord does not live in the same building. It’s all managed through an agent and never spoken to the landlord directly.
Thank you for the replies0 -
As deposit not protected the notice (? A Section 21 Form 6a by any chance ?) is invalid and you can easily get the case thrown out of court. To evict you landlord would have to return deposit first.
You may also sue (suggest after you leave) for return of deposit (less damage & rent owed) AND up to 3 x deposit (!).. See....
