Balance transfer to family member and back again.

in Credit cards
Hi
I'm in a situation where I have 3k on an mbna card and they are offering me 0% apr on balance transfers.
As my current apr is 22%, I'd like to transfer the 3k to a willing family members Capital One card then back to mine whilst paying the fees but then getting the benefit of 0% apr for 18 months.
I've tried getting various balance transfer cards but keep getting rejected so this seems to be my best bet.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation to this and were there any issues?
Thanks in advance.

best to try online as some lenders don't like to BT from cards in someone else's nameI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Some dont like BT from the same lender.
Try another BT card.0 -
I have recently tried something like that but i have found out that MBNA checks if the card you are transfering from belongs to the same person. In my case a transfer from my Barclaycard to my partners MBNA card was rejected, while other BT's to her own cards went through. This was done online. We even got a warning to contact their fraud department.
We didnt try to proceed with it in the end, so not sure about MBNA's policy.0 -
If you have a high enough limit you can do a money transfer and then use that to pay off the existing balance? I’ve done that before with a Virgin card.0
