NOW TV - if you have been anywhere near this recently, check your subscription package!

Got an email late the other night mention that the Sky Movies pass on my NOW TV subscription was going up.

Erm... I wasn't aware I had one. But turns out, after I took out a 2 week trial to NOW TV and *definitely* cancelled it before the end, the SKy movies pass remained active. I've been paying £10/month for a year and I haven't even touched the service once.

I contacted them and they've offered four months back - discussions ongoing.

I was thinking I must have made a mistake but I mentioned it to some friends last night and one of them checked his account - sure enough, he's been paying for 9 months too.

This is odd. The friend above is the kinda person who is all over that kind of thing and would never let a subscription run through carelessness.

So:
1 Anyone else got experience of this?
2 CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT!!!

So why has it taken a year for you to notice? Did you not spot £9.99 coming off your credit/debit card to NowTV every month for the last year? Surely you should have said something to them after the first £9.99 went out, not after 12 of them?

I cancelled mine last year, they kept my access to the channels going for months. (Without charge, I'd have noticed.)

Very easy to fall foul of the cancel process, you have to say you are cancelling multiple time.

Always check your subscription status after every change on any of the services.
  • Cancelled mine with no problem. When you cancel you have to confirm twice online, it does throw you off a little, but once cancelled they send an email confirming it's cancelled.

Sounds like you only part clicked and didn't confirm.

There are several cancellation offers before they actually cancel a subscription. Some of them can be worth considering IME.

I'd set it on a credit card I don't use much. And just hadn't noticed it. Plus have been sunk in building work for last 9 months or so. Eye off the ball.

Yes, does sound like my mistake. Just surprised me that the friend in question could have fallen foul to same problem too - hence wanted to flag it in case it was helpful to anyone... I can't imagine we're the only two people to be prompted to check by NOW's email.

I got into the habit of reading their emails, they've offered me free smartsticks or boxes four times over the recent months. Great for friends.
