No party wall in roof over extension

Options
Hi all,
I'm in the process of buying a house and the survey has highlighted that there is no party wall in the part of the roof that sits over a long standing added extension to the house (next door has an adjoining extension). The roof over the original part of the house does have a party wall. I have two questions I'd be grateful for your thoughts on:
a) is it a big issue to lack a party wall in the roof over the extension? I'm inclined to accept the risk and sort it out when I take ownership of the house. But is it something I should be insisting the vendor resolve before completion?

b) Does anyone know what the ballpark cost would be for adding a party wall over a small extension?

thanks v. much

If you're just talking about a firewall in the roof space then a few bricks and a bag of cement. Less than £50 at B&Q if you DIY.

I guess the starting point is to consider why you're building a party wall...
    • Fire protection
    • Sound proofing
    • Security

You could build a stud partition with acoustic insulation and fire rated plasterboard on both sides.

But brickwork might offer more security.

Ideally, you'd need the cooperation of the neighbour.
