Igloo energy
Had an email yesterday from Igloo stating they are dropping their prices, great news better than the other way but I am confused with them.
Last year they told me via email that they were increasing their prices due to wholesale prices rises, costs etc etc. Strange thing is they never did put the price up, they said they would have to adjust my monthly amount, it was somehwhere in the region 4.8% increase. I'm still paying the same monthly payment and just about holding my own regards usage v what I pay, in other words never had to increase the payment over the winter months.
Just wondered how other Igloo customers are fairing, happy or not so?
Me, I'm very happy with how they run their business, couldn't be happier. I've done the usual compare other suppliers with actual usage figures since I've been with them and so far Igloo can't be beaten since I joined them last year, even the energy club on this site.

I've been with Igloo a couple of years and while they did put their prices up (twice!) last year by quite a bit they were still one of the cheapest in my area.
The price reduction isn't so large, but in the current climate any drop is good, especially whilst others are raising theirs.
Website is simple and service seems good. Their iOS app for meter reading is very good.

Hi Jomoddy,
That's great to hear you're so pleased with us, and our second and most recent price decrease in the last couple of months!
The good news is that we have started the initial stages of our smart meter roll-out, so you can expect to be contacted by us directly, once they are available in your area.
Thanks,

Hi Brewer20,
Although you will be offered a smart meter, it is entirely optional so you can carry on with your standard meter if you wish.

Hi Brewer20,
That's great to hear you're so pleased with us! It's equally great that we've been able to lower your prices for the second time in recent months.
Regarding your original query, in the event we ever increase prices, this will mean that the standing charge and unit price is increased on your account, but won't always mean your direct debit is increased.
We have a payments system which will keep track of your usage / forecast against your direct debit amount, if you're on track with your usage then your direct debit amount will stay the same, regardless of any increase, so this will be why your direct debit has stayed the same.
If you had any further questions just send us over a message, and we'd be happy to answer them. :j

Gas is coming up as >3p/kWh and 24.5ppd, even after the recent price reduction
(this is based on Yorkshire supply region)
Consult a comparison site as you can do a lot better than that, especially as you seem prepared to veer from the Big 6
Perhaps a good compromise would be Powershop (a wholly owned subsidiary of Npower Limited) who would charge just 2.825p/kwh and 18.554ppd0
