Overcharged by Scottish Power?
I recently moved flat and called Scottish Power to notify them that I recently moved in and was planning to change suppliers.
I told them I was going to switch immediately after the call and they stuck me on some temporary tarrif and I initiated the switch online. Took about 2 weeks for the switch to complete.
I've received SP's final bill for gas and electricity and it comes to £228 for 42 days and 10 of those days I didn't even live there, I just took ownership.
I've checked the meter readings from when I moved in to when the switch completed and they seem to match but that's a ridicilous bill for about a months energy.
Have SP messed up or are their temporary tarrifs designed to screw you over since they know you're switching?

In that situation, like all companies, you will be on their most expensive tariff.
For my area(Midlands) the costs for Scottish Power Standard are gas = 4.123p/kWh electricity = 18.438p/kWh + 26p/23p a day standing charges
For Scotland prices will vary slightly.0 -
If you have checked the meter readings and they are correct then the bill is probably right.
You are on a deemed contract from when you take over the property not just when you are living in it.
Post your meter readings here along with the tariff you are on if you want to check the accuracy.0 -
I left all the paperwork at home so I'll post the details later. Figuring out these bills always confused me, never could make sense of them.0

I don't think I ever received my final electricity bill, which is quite annoying and whenever I try to login to the website, it gets stuck in a stupid loop. I go to login, it tells me to register, I register, tells me I'm already registered, go here to login, and the whole process starts all over again.
So I was with Scottish Gas during the period of 27 November to 4th Janurary on their Temporary Dec 2019 tariff.
Gas meter reading start to finish was 8541 to 8617
Electricity meter reading start to finish was 12634 to 12887
Or at least it should be 12887 as that's the start reading for my current supplier. I still need to find a copy of my final electricity bill.0 -

So using costs for Midlands to nearest £
253kWh electricty = £47
851kWh gas = £35 - assuming you have a metric gas meter(m3)
2,432kWh gas = £100 - assuming an Imperial gas meter(cu ft)
Standing charges = £19
So even with an Imperial gas meter bill should be approx £166
You need to get hold of a bill as it would appear they have not used your meter readings0 -
So I called and complained and after nearly an hour of being on hold, passed to one department to be put on hold, then jumping to one manager to the next, they eventually admitted that the wrong meter reading and would recalculate.
Just got told that they would be refunding £50 to my account for the administration error and a copy of my final bill will be posted to me. Received the money in my account but haven't received the copy of the bill yet. I still think they've overcharged me and just made up £50 to appease me and not bother figuring out the actual numbers.0 -
