Want a new car but tax needs renewing on current car

My tax runs out at end of march. I have seem new car i like but it's possible that might not buy until next month.
So is it better to do the direct debit for a month or pay the £120 up front. Is it easy to claim it back.

do the tax monthly inline , then when you tell them of sale payments will stop , no running around taking refund cheques to bank0
