Hello Mr Wonderful, welcome to the forum.

My wife has epilepsy and has surrendered her driving licence on more than one occasion.
Key to getting the licence back is whether you voluntarily surrendered the licence at the beginning or had the licence withdrawn.  It changes the return process.

To get insurance you will require to advise whether the licence is medically restricted, and you'll only know that once you receive the licence back.  The good news is, it does not seem to make a difference to premium.

Some things in your post seem odd, and some dates are possibly typed wrong, and did you only have the one seizure?  For general advice on epilepsy, the charity Epilepsy Action is second-to-none.  They also have local groups that meet and provide fantastic advice, though obviously not meeting face-to-face at present.  Their advice on driving is here https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/driving

I am a bit confused on some of the detail in your post, so feel free to PM me if I can be of further assistance.

    Hi.
I am in the same boat.  I have suspected glaucoma (I have an appointment at the eye hospital this Friday), but have been told by my optometrist that my eyesight is perfectly fine for driving.  I have full central and peripheral vision.  I have been waiting for two months for DVLA to get their act together but, predictably, they are in no hurry to deal with my request for renewal of my licence.  They have told me that I shall be sent an appointment with Specsavers(!) to assess my eyesight, but will not accept such information from any other source for some reason.  Why Specsavers are taking so long to contact me, I have no idea as I'm sure they, like other opticians, are still open despite the Covid problem.
DVLA and Specsavers: they both seem to be as inefficient as each other!
