Travel Insurance: Unusual Question ..

Hi, Can a Travel Insurance expert please assist me with a slightly unusual query ?
My family and my friends family are all going on holiday together this summer.
I booked all the flights for the whole party on my credit card.
My friend booked all the hotel and accommodation on his credit card.
We then squared up the differences 50/50.
Both families have their own annual multi-trip policy.
Q: What happens if I have an accident before departure or an event occurs causing the trip to be cancelled or abandoned for me and my family ?
I assume I could claim for the flights as I booked them, but not the hotel / accommodation as I did not book them myself ? (even though I paid indirectly).
And my friend couldn't claim hotel/accommodation on my behalf as I would not be covered under his family policy ?
Are my assumptions correct ?
Is there any way I can rectify this issue to ensure that all persons (both families) are covered for all parts of the trip ?
Thanks in advance for you help

You can claim costs you genuinely (and can evidence) incur.
It's often best to all use eg both families use the same Insurer in such cases0 -
Thanks for you response - much appreciated0
