Advice regarding fixed gas and electric deals

I'm currentlyon an 18 month fixed deal for gas and electric that ends in July of this year, with a £30 exit fee

I've heard that prices will be increasing in April

Would it be worth paying the exit fee and setting up another fixed deal before then

Or letting the deal expire in July and signing up for another fixed deal?

  • Your deal is probably better than most of the deals currently on offer, and energy prices are falling rapidly after the warm winter so the longer you wait, most likely the better deal you'll get.

So I'd wait untill the end of your tariff to switch

It's better to initiate the switch before the end of your fixed tariff to avoid moving by default to the supplier's standard variable tariff if only for a few weeks.
