Lloyd’s bank investment

I know this is probably a massive long shot! The long and short of it is
My dad took out an investment with Lloyds in the mid to late 90s and the investment went wrong and he lost all of his money.
But if you had invested a high proportion of you wealth you got all of your money back. We heard of one person received 1 million back.
We probably have the documents relating to investment in the loft but I’m wondering if it’s worth hunting for them or has it been to long and should we just forget about it?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks Zac

What Investment are you talking about?
Investing in Lloyds bank shares over that time wouldn't be good, but they still have some value.0 -
I cant think of any investment that Lloyds would offer regular customers that lost the entire sum, I used to work for them at that time.0

We need to know more about what exactly the investment was and what role Lloyds played.
You haven't told us anything that constitutes a valid complaint, but then you haven't really told us anything at all.
Presumably he "lost all his money" a while ago which means you are probably time-barred under Financial Ombudsman rules. That said, it costs nothing to make a complaint and the FOS has been known to ignore those rules.
Getting your money back would have had nothing to do with how much of your wealth you invested. But if you had invested a high proportion of you wealth you got all of your money back.0 -

Lloyds Bank never had any investments that lost all of their money. After regulation started in 1988, they had their own fund range under Black Horse Life/Black Horse Financial Services. They were all mainstream unit trust/OEIC funds or pension/life funds in mainstream areas. None of these have gone bust. But if you had invested a high proportion of you wealth you got all of your money back. We heard of one person received 1 million back.
Redress/compensation is not based on the amount invested. Indeed, the more you have, the less you get back as there are limits to the redress.
There are holes in the information you are telling us. Total loss and Lloyds bank retail investments do not go together.
Or perhaps you are referring to Lloyds as in Lloyds of London. Total loss was possible with them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
