Having looked at the details of the BT offer and referred to Aberdeen Standard web site, this appears to be a boiler room scam. Be very careful, check first before committing to anything0

This is why I would never get involved with an investment after being contacted.
The amount of commission they will make from me is much lower than if they contact someone with more money, if they can't figure that out then how can I trust the investment they recommend?0 -
I have been scammed for £500.000 with a bond paying 3.924% interest. A Paul Windsor from he said Aberdeen Asset Managment via a BT Bond. We are trying to get out money back, life savings, terrible0

Your money is almost certainly gone. If anyone contacts you claiming they can get your money back it's almost certain to be another scam.
I really hope that dot wasn't meant to be a comma.0 -

Unfortunately, you need to be prepared for total loss on that one.
There is also the probability that you will find your details traded on mugs lists to other scammers as an easy target. So, you need to be on guard.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). My commiserations. Why did you put your whole life savings into one single thing? What induced you to do that? Perhaps others can learn from this awful mistake. Was there any element of professional advice you got which will enable you to sue?0 -
My husband and I were duped into applying for a similar offer (e.g. BT bonds paying 3.924% over 1-3 years and guaranteed capital up to £85,000 per person) by what appeared to be Merian Global Investors, a reputable firm. The scam was so cleverly carried out they almost succeeded in getting us to transfer a very large sum of money into a NW bank account bearing the name of Merian Global Investors, but for a glitch which prevented the transfer going through. When a diligent bank clerk 'phoned Merian to find out why the money had not gone through he discovered that no one at Merian knew anything about BT bonds they were offering. The scam was very cleverly carried out up to that point. We would not be surprised to hear that it was the work of rogue employees of the firm or former employees as they seemed to have access to a great deal of material, including logo, literature and even a letter from the CEO of the company Mark Gregory welcoming us. We were saved but we wish others to beware.0
