Right of Residence Issue

I was left my family home by my late father and my name is on the deeds as full owner and my mother has a right of residence as stipulated in the will. My wife and I are now looking to buy our first home and we met with a mortgage advisor who said we could borrow against the house provided he right of residence was not on the deeds. Having checked them it is on them. Again mortgage advisor said we could get it removed and proceed and have my mothers right to the home protected through the will. However, I have contacted the family solicitor who has advised that the right of residence cannot be removed and if I move into that house it couldn't be re-mortgaged and in fact even if I bought the house from my mother, she would still be able to live there. Sadly my name being on the deeds now rules me out of co-ownership and other such options to first time buyers. Does anyone know if there is any way around this or any other options that I may have missed.
