Pulled over, NIP at roadside, 4 months on, nothing in post

Title says it all really, I'll be honest I was in the overtaking lane behind someone doing 50 in a 70 and no one to their left for miles. I got frustrated over the course of a mile, let my frustration get the better of me and undertook flooring it in the process, likely hitting around 85-90 for a second before slowing to indicated 80 on my dash, more like 77.

Looked in rear view mirror saw a black beamer do the same thing then the blue lights turned on and I was pulled over. He explained that he had done 90 to catch me I had undertaken and I apologised at the scene. He was ever so slightly sympathetic about the car lane hogging which he later said he would have pulled if I hadn't sped off.

Anyway, I got a ticket which rather than my actual speed as I believe he was unsure to the exact amount he listed "excess speed in 70" in the thought that I would very likely get a speed awareness course which I would have not been happy but not unhappy to go on.

Fast forward 4 and 1/2 months I have still had absolutely nothing through the post. I believe what I got at the side of the road was my NIP but I had expected at least an FPN if I wasn't to be offered the course. But nothing.

Now I know that I could still be served a summons which can be up to 6 months from offence but it still seems to have been a long time for that not to have come through.

Just seems all a bit odd.

They often leave it till the last minute to send a single justice procedure notice. A summons is so 20th century.

Just seems odd though as for a summons isn't it more than 25 over the given limit

They can prosecute you at 1mph over the limit. They might get back to the station and decide they can't be bothered processing it. Or you might hear with a day to go. Who knows. You've just got to sit tight and wait.
