Spark Energy

Hello.

Looking for a little advise I am/was with Spark energy- went into administration in Nov 2018.

When this happened I was under dispute about how much I owed as the energy reading seemed incredibly high for a one bed flat. I was filling in usage sheets ect. Now they have gone under Administration I have heard nothing from them since this has happened to inform me what is going on the only 2 correspondence is a letter to say my Direct Debit is to be increased to £166 from £80 and a text message from CPR to say they have taken the debt of my old account and I need to click on the link to pay (obviously I didn't as this looked dodgy).

I have many times tried to contact spark but only managed to get through a few times and spoken to 2 gentleman David Mitchel and Micheal. I had different information from both and one saying my account is in credit and could not tell me what my next DD would be?!

I have been informed that any accounts before Nov 2018 got passed to KMPG and they have passed accounts over to debt company to help collect any outstanding debt. I am lost as to how I can now continue on this dispute as the account is now with KMPG and not being looked into by Spark and now trying to get my money off spark as I believe I do not owe them this much. During the time between Spark going into Administration and now (March 4th 2019) I have no written communication to explain what has happened to the company and my accounts. I am finding it very confusing as when I talk to anyone im told different things. The woman in complaints said that Spark basically had gone in to liquidation. So if this is so why the heck are they chasing me for money?! who would I be paying if my energy company doesn't exist.

Im getting incredibly stressed as I have spent many hours trying to get through to them with great difficulty to resolve this and now it is currently under investigation by complaints (finally)

I have cancelled my direct debit while this is being looked into.

Any advise would be appreciated or similar experience with Spark?

Thank you

  • Hi Finch55

    Sorry to hear about this.

Spark Energy Supply Ltd did go into Administration, but Spark Energy still exists as a brand, and our customers are supplied by OVO Energy. This means that we've had to split accounts for usage from before Spark Energy Supply Ltd went into administration, and for usage after Spark Energy became part of the OVO family. This means that we've billed all accounts for Spark Energy Supply Ltd up to 27/11/18, and then set up a new account, to cover usage moving forward. Any payments made to the old account after 27/11/18 have been transferred over to the new account, as payments for usage belonging to Spark Energy as part of OVO Energy can't be used towards usage for Spark Energy Supply Ltd. This means that if a balance is due up to 28/11/18, it now belongs to KPMG.

I work in Spark Energy's Customer Relations team, so if you have a formal complaint with us regarding the balance dispute, you're with the right team. If you want me to check in on your account please drop me an email to the address given in my profile. I'd need you to confirm your forum name, your real name, your full supply address and your phone number.

If there's a dispute on the balance with KPMG, that's something we can usually look at, but without reviewing your account I wouldn't want to advise further.

Drop me a line if you need me to help with anything.

    Kind regards
