New laptop, Reset my PC

Ive just bought a brand new laptop that came with Windows 10, obviously..
After setup, today, I installed my software until some error occurred and Windows became unusable. That’s quick even for Windows. I could not access System Restore or anything else.
So, as there are no user files whatsoever on it (it’s brand new today) I thought I had no option other than to do a Reset My PC (from emergency boot options) and use the delete all files option. I started this about 3 hours ago and it’s stuck on 19%.
Dare I turn it off at this stage or leave it on overnight and see what happens. I cannot believe the System Restore partition is damaged unless it was duff when I bought the laptop.
Needless to say as I wasn’t prompted to make a system backup to USB drive I didn’t make one before things went wrong.
Any advice?

Do you have another PC you can use? If yes then you could download a fresh copy of Windows 10 to USB and do a fresh install. (If you were previously logged in then your Windows digital licence will be activated).0

Ta. Yes I’ve got another working PC with Windows 8.1 on it.
It’s still stuck at 19% after 2 hours. I’m not sure I should have to go to all this trouble. Yes I’ve deffo logged in to Windows but have no idea what the Product Key is.
Any other help gratefully accepted.0 -
As previous post, create USB with lastest build (happens automatically) and clean install. You don't need to know the Product Key (skip when asked); don't put any of your own stuff on it until ALL updates have been done (will take 30mins or so after the main W10 install); if still duff, return for cash back. After setup, today, I installed my software until some error occurred and Windows became unusable.0 -
Thanks.
I cancelled the Reset My PC and eventually got it running, but not everything would run.
So I started a System Restore back to the Windows Critical Update it had done itself. Guess what? System Restore hangs at “System Restore is initialising...”
I think the Create Recovery media option is the only possible action left.
How on Earth is Windows 10 so utterly s****?0 -
Mine is normal rock solid, but yesterday it was a pig. Booted 4 times and it still hung and it would not see the internet and hung in various places on start up, so slow to boot, would not load some start up apps.
I about 7 days ago installed some text manipulation software and thought it was that, but then found MS has release another sneaky update KB4023057 a day or two ago. For me removing the update worked - the first patch i've been effected by an MS update.0 -
I noticed that my laptop wouldn't play many sounds last night. The sounds within Outlook (the Office app) were OK but nothing else. A reboot fixed it.0
