Collated results of "Which?" annual boiler reliability survey and annual boiler engineers' survey.
Top three makes and their scores are:

    Worcester Bosch - 86%

    Viessmann - 83%

    Vaillant - 80%

Am guessing that this is based on the numbers voting as well. I'm tempted to go for Intergas based on reputation but I know that its not a huge name in the UK. Thoughts?

The new build we have moved into has an Ideal with a ten year warranty provided we get it serviced every year.

It is very quiet and seems to run on fresh air. Our gas bill for the four months we have been here is tiny.

Too early to say how reliable it will be of course but we are happy with it so far.

Intergas are excellent boilers you won't go wrong fitting one of those
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

May-August have been warm months, though.

Update us re: running costs when you have to turn the central heating on for the winter!

From what I have read, the issues are the limited number of people trained to fit and service them, and getting the parts should they go wrong, although a big selling point is less parts in the system, ie less things to go wrong in the first place.

Look at the off the shelf price for each boiler, the WB is about £200 more than the ideal yet it’s going to cost over £1000 more to fit, why?

    Indeed.

We have been comparing the running costs of the new boiler against the running costs of the boiler we had in our old house and in comparison the bills at the new house are tiny even though the house is bigger.

We have always had Vaillant and they have been reliable and efficient. That's my experience anyway.
