My tank has been leaking now for 2 weeks and is flooding so have had to turn of mains water supply. calls to land lord keep falling on deaf ears, they keep saying someone will be out but no one ever comes. where do i go now.
And can i claim compensation for 2 and a half weeks of water pouring down my walls.

You would think the landlord would care enough about the damage to their own property, never mind obligations to their tenant!
If you knew exactly where the leak is, you can use some of the "stop leaks" stuff you can buy in DIY stores. Not that you should have to, but watching water pouring down the walls would drive me mad.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. And the landlord will insist that if you don't leave water turned off any damage comes out of your deposit.
If you can effect a temporary repair, which is usually possible, then I would recommend you do so.
What is the actual problem? Which tank and where? Can you actually SEE the leak?Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
Housing associations are a law unto themselves.
Buy an umbrella and prepare for a long wait.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Ring you council and explain the situation, then ask them to come out and do a HHSRS inspection. Ring your HA and tell them what you have done, wouldn't surprise me if they came out knowing full well that they will be charged for any enforcement action they may take.
You will only be ablew to do this if your council are fairly decent at dealing with this legislation and also have time to do this.0 -
I had the same problem, and they ended up having to replaster the wall. If they miss appointments to come out to do repairs, you can claim compensation. I wrote to their head office and got a claim form and got £240 and a decorating allowance. Mines an housing !!! as well0
