Car been in garage 16 weeks+ mechanic not responding

I'm a little stuck for what to do right now.
My car (57 plate 1.2 Corsa) has been in the garage for over 16 weeks. It went in initially because of a blown head gasket, and for one reason or another the repairs have been pushed back, delayed, personal issues at the garage etc.
The reason my car is still there is because the mechanic has been giving me assurances that it will be done 'tomorrow' or 'by the end of the week' etc and because I work 6 days a week, I don't have the time to be going down every day to pressure them.
The last I heard was that it had passed its MOT (its been in the garage that long it needed that too) and he was going to deliver it within 2 hours. That was on Friday, and I haven't had any response since then. I have messaged and called, and even been to the garage during its advertised business hours but it was closed.
I just dont know where I stand, or what I can do to get my car back.
Any advice is welcome

You're going to have to take the time off work to go down to the garage in person when they're open and see exactly what is going on.
