Best app/software to share calendars with members of staff

Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting up a maintenance company that will initially employ
1) Two tradesman undertaking most jobs, as they come in from clients
2) Five subcontractors taking-on extra, out of hour or specialist work
3) Myself, allocating the jobs to each tradesman via a shared calendar.

The Tradesman will use 'internal' email addresses and calendars where I can simply insert appointments to attend.
Subcontractors will have their own email address and calendars, where I will send appointments to, in the form of meeting requests (after confirming their availability.)

My hosting is with TSO Host, and I've easily been able to add my email inbox to my email client (Outlook,) but my I'm not sure how to add a calendar.

Also, Office 365 and G-Suite appear to be the most common choices to manage simple calendar sharing system but can anyone recommend any others that might be suitable for my scenario, for a minimal budget?

I don't know for certain, but might be worth sharing what your expectations are about where / how your staff are accessing calendars. I'm guessing on phones as well as on tablets / laptops / desktops. Google calendar works, definitely, but it may mean your staff need to have a gmail address.

Hi Sue,
Both Desktop and Mobile access will be required. The internal members of staff will need to have company domain name email addresses. The external members (the sub-contractors) already have their own personal emails, but that's not a problem as they won't be communicating with clients/externally. They will only report back to me/us.

I remember there used to be a way to host email addresses on outlook.com. Can this be done, then sync the calendar within outlook.com with Outlook (or any other email/calendar client?)

I'm sorry, more questions rather than answers ... What IT support do you have? And will you be supplying the phones, or is this personal phones?

My work calendar is Outlook, but on my phone I can see it by adding an Exchange account. I've also been able to add various google calendars there, so that's the one place I can see home and work together. I've had to agree that if I lose my phone then our IT chaps can wipe it remotely.

It means I can also access my work emails on my personal phone, but I never do this ...

It sounds like Office 365 or G Suite would work well for this, both have apps for Android and iPhone and it allows direct overview.

We use Office 365 in our organisation, it works really well

Weave

We use a web based service called teamup.com. It allows users to share and update the calendar. There is a free version you can trial but recommend going to the paid version if you decide to use it as the free one has no password protection.

It allows events in the calendar to have bespoke fields such as 'in progress' or 'completed'.

You can sync this application to other devices as a back up.
