I have had the gamut of UKPS correspondence, amounting to two letters from them, five from sundry debt collectors and culminating in a letter from their tame solicitors, Gladstones.

I have ignored the lot, as where I was briefly parked is a public thoroughfare, where the chancers had no right to ticket!

How many people just cough up? This really is the Wild West and they are the bandits.

Have you received a ‘Letter Of/Before Claim’, or a court claim via the Northampton CCBC? If so, ignoring those will inevitably result in a judgment in default against you with a CCJ and a potential to wreck your credit rating.

If the place the car was parked was a public thoroughfare, then you should have little problem in defending the case, so please don’t ignore either of the above if they arrive. Deal with them. Gladstones rarely stop once they’re on a roll with a case.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Pay these scammers not one groat unless a judge orders you to. It is a scam so well known that on 18th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.
but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
