No claims discount

I’ve been driving my partners car for the last 3 years as a named driver on his insurance policy. Before this I had my own car for 9 years with full no claims bonus. Does anyone know if this will still be valid if I take out a new policy in my name?

Unlikely. Unless you are party to the current insurance policy?
Can’t you bank the 3 years as a named driver as a minimum?

IIRC CoOp will accept an NCD which is three years old. Virtually all other insurers will only accept it for two years since you last used it.
Bit late now, but the way to preserve two NCDs when switching from two cars to one is for you to insure it one year, your partner to insure it the next year etc. That way neither of them expire - assuming you don't claim.0
