Got a text today telling me that my shopper ID came up 3rd in a list for the February draw and I needed to confirm details to claim my reward. One of those strange addresses was given starting http:// but including oht.org and further letters and numbers. I went to it.

The opening page looked so genuine from Morrisons that it would be hard to believe it was fake; it had the right colours and the yellow petals above its name. I was invited to do a survey which of course I made very complimentary (though I do in fact like Morrisons). Submitted it.

Initially I had been told that the minimum value was going to be £350. After my submit, two choices appeared - a £350 Morrisons gift card or an iPhone, though this was out of stock. So I accepted the £350 card. Did I want it by SMS with CODE or Royal Post (!) which I did find rather odd. I opted for the latter assuming it meant post through the letter box.

There were half a dozen TYs from lucky beneficiaries, including one who had had the iPhone; the rest got £350.

Then the cynicism cut in. Next page was an outfit including 'app.pinchecker.com' and modoalerts.com in its details and asking for my phone number. With my phone number they would send me a maximum of 3 SMS alerts per week with the latest promos and offers at Morrisons (which I can get via My Supermarket anyway, for nothing). Cost of each message £1.50 and these would start until you sent STOP to 85222.

So I didn't give my phone number.

I assume it isn't genuine as I gave no ID to link myself to the survey or anything else. Unless the reference in the website they gave me IDs me. I ran through it twice and wasn't told at the end of the second try that I'd already claimed - which is suspicious.

Anyone else experienced this?
