BT We're moving you to a new phone calls bundle

Just had an email from BT stating that they are automatically moving me to a new phone calls bundle. They reckon because on average I spend £2.10 per month on calls moving me to a call plan of £2 per month is better for me. I hardly use the landline (need it for broadband), in the last 6 months I have only used about £3 worth of calls.
The email states that on 14th April they will move me onto the plan. If I don't want to do it and remain on my current plan then I have to click a link or ring up. Now when I click the link saying I don't want to do it the BT site takes me through an order process that states my contract will be renewed. My current broadband/landline deal has another 18 months left on it.
So has anyone else had an email like this? Why should I have to OPT out of a new deal when I never asked for it? Also why does it state my contract will renew in order to cancel the opt in plan?

I've just rang BT and OPTED out of My Anytime Calls. They said the majority of customers would benefit from My Anytime Calls but some wouldn't - like me. Also my contract will remain as is and won't restart as new. They said the website link from the email is a bit misleading in the wording regarding a new contract starting.
It's annoying that they OPT you in in the first place!

I have just had a similar offer for paying £1.50 a Month based on my average usage, I am always suspicious of them offering new deals as they always seem to be in their interest, I am trying to find out does this mean I can now make calls on weekdays and only pay the £1.50 per Month, that to me seems to good to be true, I have been trying to get an answer off the BT help forums but at the moment the replies are a bit ambiguous, it seemed to suggest this is a rolling 30 day contract and might be based on the past 12 Months calls, hence is the amount you pay altered every Month based on what you use? I have not seen it explained very well anywhere to be honest, if I get a definitive answer I will let you know.0

I hope it is OK to put this in here but I think these answer the questions, they will not re-calculate the price once you have the offer and it seems to be for calls at anytime, still seems to good to be true

Hi the thing is I don't want the offer and in order to not accept the offer it says my contract will be renewed.
Here is the wording.
"I would like to keep my existing calling plan and not change to My Anytime Calls
We're sorry but you will have to tick the box below to do that. But don't worry, all the legal terms here won't apply.
I agree to the terms and conditions and would like my contract to start as soon as possible.
The monthly price for your mobile, broadband and landline plan and most of our other prices will increase each year from March 2020 by the rate of inflation (the Consumer Price Index rate, published in January each year). This includes call charges, features and plans. If you have Home Phone Saver 2020 your package price will stay at £21.99 until 2021.
Got BT Plus? If your broadband plan started on or before 10 January 2019, and you're still within your initial 18 month contract, then your first CPI increase won't take place until March 2021.
Other terms, prices and products, like BT TV and/or BT Sport, might also change during your contract.
I understand that I can change my mind after placing my order up until 14 days after my services start and will only pay for the services I have used. Except if I am buying BT Sport, or a BT TV bolt on, or certain value-added services, where I must give 30 days' notice to cancel. Standard product and usage prices, plus details of changes to those prices we’ve already announced, are available from our Tariff Guide.
(If I cancel after this time, I may have to pay the early termination charges set out here Tariff Guide). This doesn't apply if I am buying BT Sport or a BT TV bolt on, where I agree that I want my content to start immediately and therefore I don’t have 14 days to change my mind. *
We may sometimes make changes to the software we provide, for example changing the look and feel of one of our apps. We’ll tell you about important changes in advance."0 -

Ah ha so you don't want to take it up!, I see what you mean by the T&C's that is as clear as mud, you could try that form I linked to above and ask the question on there.0
