Uspetroleumholdongs

I think this is a possible scam beware I have had a phone call from Regencyag about a possible floatation of shares in USpetroleum.Things seemed to good to be true and that they said the money you made depended on how much you invested,so this seeemed odd and when I questioned what she meant she was'nt very clear about the details and skirted round the issue. Also money was sent to a US bank before shares could be purchased.I have found several references to them at Scam.com.

So please beware

  • Sounds like a typical 'boiler room' scam.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • I think them saying they helped launched Google and Cairn Energy to the share market was also something that made me think scam
  • Here is a press release from The Dorset Echo

UNSUSPECTING residents in Bournemouth are being targeted by "boiler room" scams - overseas operations using high-pressure phone selling techniques to persuade investors to purchase virtually worthless shares.
According to the Financial Services Authority, boiler rooms prey on older, male investors, particularly in London and the South East, with victims losing an average of £20,000.
The Daily Echo's John Nesbitt received three phone calls in three days from a company offering him shares with US Petroleum Holdings.
He said: "The woman at the other end was very persuasive, saying she was offering me an incredible opportunity following an oil company merger in Bahrain. "The shares had gone up 25 per cent in the last week", she claimed, and she even invited me to visit the company's five new wells. “The woman at the other end was very persuasive, saying she was offering me an incredible opportunity following an oil company merger in Bahrain."
"There was no way that I was going to write a cheque following a phone conversation but it worries me that other people could be taken in by the sales pitch."

Was the free trip to the oil wells of Bahrain meant to be an inducement to sign up or a threat of what would happen if the "shares" weren't purchased???

It's a novel way of marketing, if unlikely to be productive:

'Hello. I'm just ringing to offer you stock in a new Russian / US company which has found massive reserves of Kryptonite. It's in the Arctic Tundra and you and your partner can have a free trip to see it."

    Wow. Irresistible.
  • I've just had the call from John Smith Louvior of Regency in Bahrain with the same wonderful offer. He is very plausible but if the share placing was so attractive why on earth would they waste time targeting small investors when big institutional investors would be queuing up to invest. He was also very insistent that I give him a second telephone number for myself (which I didn't) but I couldn't figure out the point of this. Stay well clear!
