Candy Oven ACOM609XM

Hi all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Got the above integrated oven which was bought new from AO and the one year warranty ended January 9th 2019.

Its developed a fault in which the oven goes off after a while with the display saying stop? I have googled it, but cant find much on it. I have contacted AO and they said its out of warranty in which i feel for an oven of this age it should last much longer so.

Have i any rights on this to get it fixed for free, or am i stuffed? Also if anyone has experienced this problem, please can they give advice on a fix.

Thanks

I'd ask on consumer rights part of the forums but would say I'd expect it to last longer

Is there a troubleshooting section in the user manual or on the Candy website? If not you might try e-mailing Candy for advice: some appliance companies have very good Customer Service departments.

IIRC beyond a certain age of a product the onus is on the buyer to demonstrate that there is an inherent fault, rather than the retailer to prove that there is not. That means you would need to get a professional to look at the oven to have a claim against EO. Information on the Consumer Rights Act information on the main MSE site, or Citizens Rights website or Which? website.

I have looked but can't see anything. Have emailed them and they have told me to ring and explain the problem which I will tomorrow. Oven works great, but all of a sudden the display says stop?

I dont know if this helps but the manual contains this :
    •Child Lock function is
    activated by touching Set (+)
for a minimum of 5 seconds.
    From this moment on all
    other function are locked
    the display will flash STOP
    and preset time intermittently.
    and
    •Child Lock function is
    deactivated by touching
touchpad Set (+) again for a
    minimum of 5 seconds. From
    this moment on all functions
    are selectable again.

So there could be a fault with the lock function.
I have seen elsewhere where for a Hoover oven (made by Candy) with the same display STOP that they turned it off overnight and it fixed it.

The child lock feature by the looks is the problem. The + sign locks it and unlocks it, so it must be this. Don't understand why it does it because u need to hold it in for 5 seconds. Will keep a eye out on this problem.

    Thanks
