The reality of the situation is that records of insurance cancellations are only held for FIVE years on an industry-wide database. Individual insurers may, of course, keep incriminating data against you in their own systems for longer, but this information cannot be shared after five years. OP, make of this what you will …...

    Ho Hum
I think even considering this would be a huge mistake
What happens if the insurers he potentailly lies to merge with one who still holds the details?
What happens if the Data is not wiped from Hunter or whatever by mistake and is inadvertantly disclosed ?
I hope you are not naive enough to believe this could not happen.

    Hey All,

I just wanted to reply so someone somewhere in the future might find it useful.

    I got it all sorted.

I called the first insurance company and explained the mistake, the cost and the problems I'm having getting insurance and after a week I also sent them an email.
A lovely lady called and confirmed the decision has been corrected to show I ended the insurance early.

Then I called my second insurance couple of weeks later and told them that I had an ongoing issue with the previous insurance and it jas now been fixed. They looked up and confirmed that they too will correct it on the system.

Now I pay less then £60 for my self and my wife.
Thank you all for the advice!! Every word helped.

    Great news!

I was actually just going to post to see if you are eligible for a motobility car, in which case you wouldn't need to arrange any insurance but glad you got sorted.
