Hi
Please can anyone help with a little advice? I have just noticed a yellow light on my Fiat 500X dash and upon checking it means `check daytime running lights and parking lights`. I have just had a quick look and one of the bulbs on the daytime lights seems to have gone. I havn`t got a clue what my parking light are!
I was wondering if I take my car to somewhere such as Halfords to have the bulbs replaced or do I have to go to a Fiat garage? Also when new bulbs are put in will this light just go out?
Coloured lights on the dashboard are new to me..never had them with my old Honda CRV.
Many thanks for any advice you can help me with.

"I havn`t got a clue what my parking light are!"
That's the new trendy way of describing what are usually described as side lights and rear lights.
Does our vehicle handbook advise the DRLs are user changeable? If they are then it should be srtaightforward to do it yourself depending on their location.
The handbook should also list which lamp types for which lights.
I suspect the warning light will disappear once the offending lamp is changed.
You most certainly shouldn't have to visit a Fiat franchise.0 -
Side lights and rear lights, thank you.
You have most probably gathered from my posting that I would not be able to do this myself! Halfords is 5 mins drive away, will most probably have to go there...got to be cheaper than Fiat dealer.
Thank you0 -
There is a video here if it helps, it looks straightforward at least with this model; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gv76U-88Fc
I'm sure Halfords will do it for you, think they charge a small fee but yes, likely be cheaper than a main dealer for this kind of thing.
They only need to change the bulb thats gone and yes, the dashboard warning light to tell you a light isn't working should go out automatically once you have a working bulb fitted.0 -
The video in post #4 is not for a 500X
The 500X has LED lights so don't waste your time going to Halfords.
How long have you had it? What about warrantee from where you got it?0 -
Thank you, thorganby, I have had the car nearly 3 years. Didn`t know warranty would cover light bulbs. Don`t Halfords do LED lights?0
-
Not all 500x models have LEDs. The conventional lamp models are a bit fiddly but doable without being too much of a contortionist. You get at the DRLs by opening the little door in the wheel arch.0

Still beyond me I think! hope its not a daft question but how do I tell if it is an ordinary bulb or LED? many thanks0

This is an older version without the LED lights - compare the two pictures, which does your look like?

Thats the one, and same colour as well
I have just rung a local car part accessories shop and the guy knew exactly what I want and and even told me how its fitted (via the wheel arch) £3.99 including fitting so I am going to get them both done.
Thanks again, much appreciated0
