Underfloor Heating Brands

We are renovating our family bathroom, and would like to install underfloor heating to save space.

We're buffudled on the brands - Warmup, Ambient, Caldo, etc...

Any recommendations or spaces to get unbiased reviews?

We got the basic kit from screwfix and it’s been great. Really warm on your feet but make sure you go right up to and maybe even under the toilet and sink when fitting it. You don’t want cold tiles when your sat on the bog or at the sink. It says not to go under fittings but it doesn’t get warm enough to cause problems under the toilet.

Sorry, I can't remember what make ours is but a couple of bits to emphasise, if you are planning to do it yourself.


First, if you are laying something on top requiring an adhesive (e.g. ceramic tiles) do make sure to put down a solid layer of adhesive, not blobs like my fitter did. He simply ignored the instructions that came with the kit. If you leave any spaces under the tiles, you will get cold spots.


Second, when you lay down the thermal sensor, make sure to put it through a flexible conduit pipe (probably provided with the kit) and make sure the pipe comes up from the floor in a way that allows you to remove and insert the thermal sensor lead later, if needed. My fitter used the conduit OK but then stopped it short at the bottom of a stud wall. The sensor became faulty and I had to dig through the plasterboard in a couple of places to locate the trapped sensor lead and release it. He should have installed the conduit in a gradual bend and terminated it just below the Programmer (where the sensor lead terminates).


Some installers simply have no sense.

I personally prefer Rayotec for underfloorheating mats https://rayotec.com/ - have used them for commercial and residential projects.

Always found them really helpful, and good information on their website. You can get mats for regular shapes, and loose cable systems for irregular shaped or small rooms.
