Barclay Card Credit Limit Increase

Hi guys I have received a new Barclaycard with a limit of only £800, I shifted as much debt from another card onto this one (0% 18 months).

I was wondering what are the chances of being successful applying for credit limit increase within first 60 days. I say 60 days because I think that was the amount of time I have to do balance transfers with promotional rate?

    Somewhere between minimal and none.

But you could ask - you may get lucky.

As zx81 said. I would say almost certainly 99.9% no chance. I have been with Barclaycard for over 6 years and all my increases have came from them with at least 6 month intervals and providing you've managed your account and other credit accounts responsibly. My guess is you'll need to wait at least 6 months and even then its not guaranteed.

    Good luck.

OK thanks, does it do any hard requesting one? They don't do another credit search etc?

To my knowledge they do not conduct a hard search it's more an internal thing that i guess takes into consideration your account activity and standing along with any other external commitments, don't quote me on this though. You can try and i guess you'll get the generic answer of we cannot raise your limit due to the account being new or you cant raise as you need to wait 6/12 months etc.
  • I believe BC only allow you to request limit increases once every 3 or 6 months.

    Mine is currently 3 months

    6 months minimum.
  • Barclay card doesn’t tend to offer credit limits easily as far as I’m aware, and definitely not in 60 days, 6-12 months is more likely, also it looks bad if your requesting to lend more that soon.
