Two meters, one standing charge
Options
Am finding it very hard to switch away from Eon as most of the new players do not seem to be able to cope with my house having 2 meters (and two electricity supply numbers) but only one standing charge (has been suggested that if I want to switch I would need to get 2 standiong charges which would lose most if not all of my savings from switching!). I only have electrivcitiy at my house, no gas. Does anyone else have 2 meters and one standing charge and if so any recommendations on which players you can switch to given this issue. Thanks in advance for any help, my Eon costs just seem ridiculous and price comparison sites suggest I could save 25% if I could find someone who I can actually switch to!

Hi,
so you have a meter for domestic and one for heating/E7?0 -
What's the name of your current tariff and the unit prices and standing charge?0
-
Current tariff is EOn EnergyPlan for both meters.
Unit price is 15.96 but about to be significantly hiked. Standing charge is 21.52p per day.
2 meters are because we have a main house and then also a detached garage with accommodation above the garage, meters are next to each other in the main house and only pay one standing charge,
Thanks.0 -
If you're not using a lot in the garage maybe worth having that with a supplier that doesn't have a standing charge.0

The below is the classic response I get when I try to switch, any ideas from anyone on how I can get a better deal?
We would like to inform you that we have cancelled your account as you have related MPAN's and, unfortunately, we don't support this type of meters.
The MPAN we have registered xxxxxxxxx is related to another MPAN yyyyyyyyy which we are unable to take supply of.
The switch would probably have been objected by your current supplier as we were taking just one MPAN and not both of them. Your supply will remain with your current supplier and the Direct Debit schedule with us was cancelled as well.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.0 -
Related meter set ups are a tricky one and most suppliers will try and put you off as they're more trouble than they're worth.
However the CMA has mandated suppliers make an accommodation tariff available so all suppliers have to accept you, but most will put you onto their most expensive deal.
However suppliers with only one tariff like Bulb and Igloo etc I'd imagine have to put you into this tariff but will probably charge 2 standing charges.
E.on, SSE and Scottish power have special economy 10 tariffs for this set up, but only good if you use a lot of heating at night normally due to standing charges
