Solarplicity bill of £971 after outdoor meters changed and smart meter installed

Hi last summer had meters in the cupboards changed by solarplicity. Bills received within acceptable limits until early Feb 2019 when received 3 bills in a week each one higher than the last, most recent of £971 owing which cannot be right for small 3 bed semi. occupancy and use unchanged. Have lost faith/ trust that they have any idea how much I owe. Do I complain to them? Seems cant change provider as I apparently 'owe' more than £200. Any advice on best way to sort this very welcome - thanks in advance. :-)

    I take it that previous bills were not estimated and you provided regular readings?

    The usual reason for this type of situation is that previous bills were based on meter readings that were under-estimated.


    Check all your old bills and see when the last actual meter reading was used on a bill and you can work out from the present meter reading what the bills should have been.

    In particular look at last summers bills when then meters were changed.

    Does that bill detail the old meter and its readings and give details of the new meter and its readings. The new Smart meters should both then have readings of 00000

    At that time were you in credit or debit ? Have the DD's been taken every month ?
    Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

    "....meters in the cupboards changed" suggests that both the Gas & Elec meters were changed at the same time..
    Look at the bills to find out on which fuel the cost has risen
