Hsbc physical secure key replacement!

I need a replacement due to a low battery.
I picked this up in branch yet there are no instructions on how to replace an old (dying battery) secure key, only activate a new account or change to a digital.
I am not interested in upgrading to a digital secure key at this time.
Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried google ?
Is there a battery cover, any screws ?
I suspect not so maybe only option is to replace it or move to another account.0 -
When this happened to mine (no, you can't replace the batteries!) a couple of months ago, I just phoned the number on the cardboard folder that the key came in, and the people on the Helpdesk talked me through activating it.0

Their website FAQ deals with secure key replacement. It's just one phone call.0

Replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Popped into branch, she got a new one out of the cupboard, cancelled my old one, and told me to 'follow the instructions'. Wasn't entirely straightforward - first had to remember my password to login without the key, then it wanted an activation code which she hadn't given me and had to request one sent via email or mobile. But got there and working fine.
I imagine a lot of the first issue of keys are now reaching dead battery stage - and yes, you can't change the battery.0 -
My M&S thingy was showing 'batt 00'. I hardly ever use it as the app is easier, but mentioned it in phone call about something else. Replacement is in the post but adviser has managed to lock me out of both online & app.
2nd phone call has resulted in £20 credit (apparently, but as I'm locked out I can't check:cool:) for the inconvenience.
As I only use the account for the monthly saver & occasional M&S purchases, there isn't much inconvenience:)
Apologies for drifting off topic0 -
I had a secure token for a game I played, was such a pain when the battery died I switched to a digital one and never looked back, it was far easier
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Last week I got a new phone and had to contact FD about their mobile app. A very helpful agent talked me through the digital key thing and then told me to bin the fiddly token as it was no use to me anymore.
Have to say I'm glad of that as I could hardly read the tiny wee screen at the best of times. Only got the M&S one left now!0
