is claiming still easy

Options
My parents want me to claim against ppi dating back to the 90's they've gave me the bank name and roughly the year they had the loans. When i claimed about 5 years ago i remember i just sent a simple template letter from here to my bank and everything else was done for me.

Is it still the same considering i have no more details then already stated? They have had around 5 loans in total

Yep, same complaint procedure, or you can phone or you can go to their website and complain.

In some respects it is easier. In others it is harder.

Banks are generally much more fairer in how they handle complaints today than they were at the start. However, PPI stopped being sold, other than the two good types, nearly a decade ago. So, records may not be as easy to locate. The FOS are upholding less PPI complaints today than in the past.

Really no need for a template. All you need to do is write a short note detailing your finance, your complaint and providing proof of your identity. You'll probably be able to do this on the lender's website.

HOWEVER, it's three decades ago so don't be surprised if your complaint falls at the first hurdle and the Bank no longer have any records.

Either go on the lender's website as they will probably have a PPI complaints area or write simply

    Dear Bank

    Ref: Loan for name xyz

Please confirm if there was any PPI on loans in our name. The loans were active between <date 1> and <date 2>

Our address at the time was ......

    Signed

    Your parents

You will not be able to complain on their behalf without a letter of authority

Remember also you need to find out if they even have any records left before you can look into a complaint.

Template letters, particularly if your English is poor, may harm your complain as they could include stuff that has no relevance to you

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If it was the OLD TSB then Lloyds have the complaints, the current TSB are basically a new bank with no liability for old sales.

You don't need to write a letter though, you can start the complaint online
