Well yes he did send a two letters a few years ago saying he would take me to court if I didn't pay but didn't tell me how much I owed and didn't include a bill, so I took no notice as I had made 5 payments to him while the work was going on and on three occasions had asked for a bill or statement of account, which I never got, so I stopped paying money to him. I spoke to him about a year ago when he asked me to pay him and I said he needed to give me a bill as I had never received one even though I had asked for one three times, About 8 months later he turned up with a bill this was about 5 months ago. I then spoke to him in January at my workshop and said I would do my best to have the bill paid in April this year. He seemed ok with that and said come over to my garage and discuss it, I said i would on the 12th Feb, on the Friday before that he gave a piece of paper to a friend where i work saying if I didn't see him before Monday 11th 9am he would take me to court. I didn't respond, I'd had enough of this guy by now after saying I would pay in April and being given a bill more than 5 years later for around £1800 and had paid him £1500, five years ago, for a van that wasn't worth that much really. I will pay him but he is getting on my nerves now with this civil money claim. I just really don't want to have this end up getting me a bad credit score as I want to get a loan later this year. So I guess I will fill in the form and see.

The letter heading says HM Courts & Tribunal Service and that it is a money claim or it is also called a Civil Money Claim service which is run by HM Courts & Tribunal Service. I think it is a newish government service set up in 2017 but there isn't much about it on the gov.uk site really, can't find any guidelines just a blog.

It seems you can not write anything, you can accept the claim and pay immediately if you can't pay immediately you can ask the claimant for more time but he can still ask the court to issue a CCJ against you. We had a verbal arrangement to sort this out in April when I would have the money to pay him.
It seems this is a new government service which is still in Beta testing. It seems that I can admit and pay, admit part of the claim and pay or reject the claim, they are the options. If I admit to the full claim I have to pay immediately if I can't he can issue a CCJ and the court will decide when I have to pay, if I admit to part of the claim but can't pay immediately he can issue a CCJ. There are no forms for me to say anything. He says he gave me a bill on 22-05-13, he did not, I got a bill in the end of October 2018, one bill once. It seems I have to pay now or risk getting a CCJ. Seems unfair. Seems he has control over my credit rating. Maybe its because in a few months it will be 6 years and there might be a possibility I wouldn't have to pay, so he is worried about that. I don't know.

Thank you everyone. Hopefully the government will give more info on this subject soon.

Remember though, your credit rating is only seen by you, lenders see your credit history.

If you defended the claim (not 'rejected' it as you have written) then you would have had the opportunity to provide your defence online, so it's not correct for you to say there are no forms for you to say anything.

What did you do? Did you Acknowledge the claim before the deadline on 4th March? If you didn't do that then he will automatically now have judgement against you.

If that's what happened then you'll have 30 days to pay him. If you don't he can get a CCJ against you, which will go on you credit reports and screw your credit history.

Once he has a CCJ he can then engage bailiffs to make collection.
