Euro Car Parks transfer to Debt Recovery Plus results in increase to charge

Hi Folks,

My POPLA appeal against Euro Car Parks was unsuccessful. I chose to ignore the outcome and ECP have now passed the charge to Debt Recovery Plus who have issued me with a letter with a higher charge. The original charge from ECP was £85 (early payment £50) and the figure on the letter from DRP is £145. I could call up and find out what's going on but I've avoided direct contact with the other parties so far.

I gave it a decent go of appealing against the charge from ECP based on the suggestions in the Newbies thread and other posts of successful outcomes.

As the figure is jumping up, naturally, I'm rather anxious. There's no explanation in the letter from DRP about the higher amount. I'm prepared to settle, but this latest cost hike has caught me out. Is there a standard and legitimate explanation for the higher charge when transferred to a debt recovery firm? ECP are no longer accepting payment on their website having transferred the matter.

Many thanks.

Have you read the NEWBIES sticky thread? Tells you all you need to know about DRP (the summary of which is "ignore them"). DO NOT, under any circumstances, contact them, certainly don't phone them.

The "standard" explanation is that they do this to deliberately inflate their claim. Is it legitimate? Not when the original company moves to court and attempts to include this extra charge in their claim, even though it was never actually incurred.

You are being scammed by the DRP morons. You take no notice of these sewer living droids ,,,,,, they are totally powerless.

They have not transfered to DRP, they have instructed DRP to chase you with scary letters,

IGNORE DRP, NEVER CONTACT THEM REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY SAY .... DRP LIE

Just forget DRP and wait to see what ECP do and come back here.

POPLA ???? Well, they are a dinosaur employing useless assessors. You are not bound by them .... just wait

As with above, you are in to "ignore but don't bin" territory. DRP cannot bring any kind of claim in the courts against you.

Yawn...it's only ECP. I've ignored them and their debt letters myself, more than once.

I trust you mean Settle down to a nice cuppa.

You said call up and find out whats going on, you should never ever call them - or the parking company.
The so called increasing fees are nothing more than a scare tactic designed to hook people in, make them worry and pay up, and it appears they have had some of their desired effect on you, fortunatly you've found this place , so hopefuly you will get an understanding of just what the private parking industry is.

You will get asked some questions, please answer them they are there so we can help you, never refer to the Driver as He/She/ uncle/sister/I, or anything else, just the driver on the day or the vehicle entered the car park and....

    First some questions:
why was a parking charge issued?
In Who's car park was this charge issued?
