Samsung American Style Fridge Freezer Compressor Fault 10 Year Warranty

Fridge Freezer stopped cooling mid-January and lost all freezer contents. Fridge/Freezer is some 6 and a half years old so out of 5 year warranty but compressor has 10 year warranty.

Called Samsung and was advised 5 year warranty had run out so called the approved engineers who came out on Wednesday 30 January and confirmed compressor was at fault and reported back to Samsung. Samsung agreed to replace the compressor and raised a service order but engineer came out to replace compressor on 8 of February but on further checks said it was compressor but it had put oil into the pipe work and in his opinion was not worth replacing.

Numerous calls to Samsung and finally told they could not help anymore on Wednesday 20 February so I asked to speak to the complaints department where the person said that they would replace the compressor and get the engineers out again. Since that call I have heard nothing.

Raised complaint through resolver to try another route but just got email back below with same result:
"This is to acknowledge that we have received your email and we apologized for the inconvenience. However, we checked all the transactions under your account and upon checking, our Alternative Resolution Team already leave a notation that we really cannot offer any possible resolution for the appliance since the Fridge Freezer is beyond 5 years from the date of purchase or manufacture."

Given its the compressor that is at fault and it has a warranty for 10 years I expect the Fridge Freezer to last for at least 10 years but maybe time just to throw in the towel but wondered if anyone else has had similar problems.

Don't think I would buy an appliance with an extended warranty on a sub component again. LG are now giving 20 year warranty on the compressor in their £5k fridge freezer. Just seems manufacturers are giving false warranties on a component that is the heart of the appliance but if it faults it may not be able to fix the said faulty component.

I don't understand this and wonder if you read the OP
    Compressor fails
Samsung refuse to replace as the compressor although faulty has leaked oil and it is not apparantly worth replacing
No doubt many compressors fail by leaking oil so this warranty of 10 years sounds somewhat useless.
I would have expected the failure opf the compressor to include repairing any damage it's failure causes but apparently not
I would at the least insist that Samsung replace the faulty compressor or refund some cash for the useless warranty that they sold you

I haven't seen anything that would suggest that this warranty is anything other than what Samsung offer on their products as standard and without charge.
