If you want to keep the interest to minimum then you should pay as soon as possible after you withdraw the cash. Even better you you do not withdraw cash but just use it to purchase while you are abroad. Alternatively, apply Barclaycard Platinum travel credit card

But this card is using Visa exchange rate, which is known marginally worse than mastercard exchange rate.

The version I linked to above : https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/personal/credit-cards/platinum-cashback-plus is slightly better imho

Monzo, Starling and Revolut. Job done.
  • Nationwide FlexPlus for cash withdrawals, Nationwide Select credit card for purchases. Halifax Clarity as backup.

Well did you see the op is even commenting about the interest incur withdrawing cash using a specialist credit card.

So it is unreasonable to suggest paying a fee of £13 a month for maintaining the Nationwide FlexPlus ac to get Nationwide FlexPlus Debit Card.

Of course you shouldn't get the FlexPlus account just for free cash withdrawals.

Never had a problem with Halifax Clarity used all over the world. Yes, it does charge interest on cash withdrawals but at 3-5p a day per £100 (depending on your APR) then it still works out cheaper than most other methods

However, always take at least 2 other backups from other banks in case of loss/theft, refusal or blockage and never keep all of your cards in the same place in case your wallet/purse goes walkabout.
