Newbie help with paper share certificates and online account please

Hi there, I've a huge bunch of paper share certs and receive more every few months from DRIPs. I've read on here and other places that paper certs are on the way out - so can someone recommend a place to convert these to online? I saw X-0 recommended on here in a post from last summer so is that still a good choice? And once I convert will the DRIP shares just go to the online service?
I don't want to pay a huge account fee to run an online account, but I would like to be able to trade infrequently... thanks so much EJMZ
