Multi car cover 2 cars one driver?
I know Admiral do “multi car cover” but is this one driver two cars? For ncd purposes? Or am I looking at two separate insurance policies one with my ncd on one car and a new from scratch policy on the other? I’ve got full 15+ years protected ncd at the moment, I’m going to be running another car shortly so looking at options, current provider happy to switch ncd to new to me car but that would mean starting from scratch again with them at least on current car.

It can be for one driver and multiple cars. I would say though that when I got quotes for this for my Mondeo and MX5 that it worked out WAAAAAAY more expensive than getting separate policies. Many insurers will give you a discount that mirrors the NCD on your main vehicle for a second vehicle, even ones on comparison sites so whilst you may be starting the NCD from scratch the price you pay would be equivalent to having put the full 15+ years from your main car on it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Not sure how I define main car I expect I’ll still cover 12k pa roughly 50/50 between them, one being used for the short daily commute the other for longer trips / towing. Possibly 5k / 7 k.0

I’m with Admiral on my two cars, so yes, one driver two cars.
I only found out this year that on a two-car policy it was costing me a fortune to have my wife as named driver whereas on a single car policy it had been saving me money.
Reasonably enough they pointed out that we could both be driving at the same time on the multi-car.0 -
I used to be with Admiral multicar....
I was the sole driver but they ran it as two polices so that a change with one car didn't affect the other.
If you only have one NCD you will have to build up the NCD on the other car although they may give you an introductory discount and of course there's also a multicar discount.
I found the first year was a decent price but it jumped considerably after the first year.0 -

I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0 -

It doesn't matter. The one being used for the daily commutes is your main car because although you maybe don't do the most mileage in it you use it the majority of the time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks for the replies, as expected Its looking like two policies, want to use ncd in new car it’s a 4x4 and higher insurance group and start new ncd on existing lower insurance group car, Aviva seem more flexible although suspectvthus is introductory offer. I have used them to insurance my existing car but moved in Dec at renewal which I do every year.0
