bank details stolen? Help

So can I confirm? This has nothing whatsoever to do with Paypal?0

It is not your bank account details which have been stolen/compromised. It is your debit card details.
Having checked your paypal account and found nothing there regarding these transactions, I'm not sure why you were so quick to close the account.
It looks as if perhaps the card is being used in conjunction with a different paypal account or else is being used without a paypal account through merchants who use paypal as a card processor.
The strange thing here of course is how the fraudsters obtained the required information - card number, expiry date and ccv number at a minimum if billing address was not checked.
In your OP you mention (quote) don't know of any family or friends who would have either as they would have had to ask permissions/details/passwords & no one has (unquote). This makes me wonder if you are in the habit of giving such permissions details etc to friends and family?0 -

on the bank statement it says "paypal" however when on the paypal account there is nothing listed under transactions at all.It is not your bank account details which have been stolen/compromised. It is your debit card details.

yeh to be fair i wouldn't have closed my paypal so promptly but oh kinda jumped the gun & as we are in different countries with time difference I didnt get the message until after OH had proceeded to do so.
in all fairness the only person OH would allow to use the card would be me (with permission obviously) but 9/10 times we would be in the same room during that time, as I said it's OH's only bank account hence the card is on their person at all times so the card is never in possession of anyone else.
OH rarely uses paypal, would the card details have been stolen from there? or could they have been stolen from anywhere?
I guess it's quite easy to steal cvc, expiry & card number as most websites ask those when making a purchase therefore if those details were entered to a non-secure/compromised site then I guess that's how someone could have got them. I'm not sure billing address is always checked?
Frustrating OH has a loan repayment that comes out the compromised account of just under £300. At the minute the balance of the account has been reduced to £3. Is there a way the bank could take the payment out the savings account this month instead? given the situation? or should OH just move £300 into the compromised account the day prior to loan repayment coming out & hope it doesnt get stolen!!0
