Bath twist overflow

Options
I'm looking for tips on how to deal with a loose twist pop-up/overflow on my bath.

If the bath ever overflows (yes happens from to time!) then it goes straight through my ceiling owing to a leaky/loose twist switch for the pop up plug. I've fallen at the first hurdle, removing the twist plate: I've taken out the grub screw but can't get the switch to budge. If I try prising if off with a screwdriver or similar, I think I'll crack the bath. It's at the side of the tub so is hard to access behind - I may ave to cut an access hatch from the spare bedroom but I'm trying to avoid this, especially as iI'll probably still have to find a way to take off the twist switch.

Does anyone have any suggestions?!

Thanks in advance

It may have been sealed on to the bath during install, are you unable to take the bath panel off to access the rear of the overflow?
