they are legitimate.
i won a competion prize through them and took 2 friends along as well. the prize costs £250 each ticket, and you have to pay £45 to secure your date when you want to go. this is refundable,- which we all got back and we managed to get them down in price for the photos we took away.
16 pictures cost about £100. A really fun day., they are just behind M&S aso take lunch in with you.. it can take a while!!0 -
I got a phone call today re photo shoot, Wanted me at least pay for my deposit and when I had a definate date to pay for other guests. I was in the middle of training course at the time of phone call so didnt have bank card to hand, I said I would ca This has put me offll back later or monday, I had 7 phonecalls after that from them! Talk about pushy! I only answered one of the later calls! This has put me off now! I hav read the various threads for and against, but can anyone actually tell me how long session was and what my guests get to do whilst the makup, hair n pic taking goes on? I was informed complimentary drinks are supplied to all of us throughout the session.....take it that machine tea in a plastic cup?

I also had a phone call to tell me I’d won a competition, but I did remember entering. I handed over my credit card details to secure a deposit, which I would not advise and would not do again (had a major panic after handing them over and reading these reviews). After I did a bit of research, I found out that Skylite Studios is GENUINE - Google them for their website.
THE CON PART - they are calling to tell you, you’ve won a competition, but actually on the website it seems to say that the booking is ALWAYS refundable (after you’ve had the photo shoot done). What they might be doing, is using competitions to collect the contact details for people interested in a makeover photoshoot, which seems somewhat unethical.
HOWEVER, my two friends and I went along and were really pleased with the makeover and hairdo. The photographer was great and gave clear instructions on how to pose, so we felt relaxed and got some great shots. The photos are expensive, but you can use your deposit towards them and if you haggle can get discounts. They were not as pushy with sales as I thought they would be.
What you need to remember is that they make their money from the pics, so it’s worth finding out how much each photo will cost (£45 when I went) before booking the session. If you’ve already booked and want your money back, Tanya, the booking agent, told me I had 28 days to cancel. On top of that Trading Standards say that unless you have been given the full terms and conditions on the phone when you make a distance purchase (which I wasn’t), you are entitled to a refund. Your credit card company will help you get your money back.
All-in-all I enjoyed the experience, but would say that their booking techniques are questionable. If you haven’t booked this, I’d recommend viewing their website and doing your research first. If they say it’s now or never when they call, you can always “win” another competition.0 -
hum, this hasnt happened to me, well done on your wins however i feel if i do get a cll i may decline it
well done all

just had a call today re the same thing and like some of you I got caught up, until I saw this site that is and then the logic and intelligence kicked in. Luckily in time. I then rang Visa, rang the sales girl back to request a refund, was initially told, it wasnt possible and not part of their terms and conditions, yada yada yada. stressed that it was possible to do the refund as I was requesting it almost immediately as I had changed my mind. in the end found their website, found an email add, sent an email (copied and pasted below) - got a phonecall almost in the next half hour of their receiving my email with a promise of a full refund by the end of the day and promise of a confirmation that the refund will be processed and all bookings cancelled. Lets face it, if its a genuine prize, then they will send me the vouchers in the post anyway and I can then book myself and my 2 friends in my own time and put down a deposit at that time. if its not a genuine offer, then I wont get anything in the post and will have saved myself £45*3 and a lot of stress about the refund. I wait to see if the refund comes through quickly.
copy of email that I sent - feel free to use any of the words you think are necessary people:
thanks for your phone call today at 3pm informing me about the 3 free makeovers that I have won through some survey that I must have filled out recently.
You have offered me a free makeover for up to 3 people today (Thursday 2nd April 2009). It all sounded great. Initially you mentioned that in order to secure the prize (which was valid for 6 months). I needed to put down a fully refundable deposit of £45 for myself and the booking would still allow me to bring 2 of my friends as the prize is for up to 3 of us. You asked me to put down a deposit of £45 to secure the booking for myself and then you would send me the voucher with the terms and conditions etc. I agreed to pay the deposit by credit card. You then suggested that it may be better for me to book all three of us down at the same time on my credit card. At the time, at about 3.15pm I agreed (as i did not really have time to think about it too much) and you processed the booking straight away and gave me an authorisation code XXXXXX. After processing the transaction, you advised that you will schedule me and 2 friends in for Sunday 31st May at 11.00 (even though we had not discussed dates and times as I have not s poken to my friends or looke at my diary) and you clarified that once I receive the vouchers and paperwork, I can then reschedle the appointment as necessary.
Once I got off the phone with you, I had a little think and decided that I only wanted to put a deposit down for myself and then once I have received the voucher and seen all the paperwork which you are going to post to me today and I call you to confirm the date that I would like to take the prize and have confirmed which of my friends will be coming with me, I will then put down the refundable deposit for them at that time. I called you at 3.30pm to advise you of this and unfortunately got your voicemail but I left a message for you to ask you to refund £90 back onto my card for the moment.
You can called me back (almost immediately) and unfortunately, I was on the phone at the time, but your message advised me that as you had obtained an authorisation code you will not be able to carry out a refund. I then called you back (and got your voicemessage) and advised that even though you have an authorisation code, it is still possible to process a refund, in the same way as you processed the original transaction.
You then kindly called me back in the next 10 mins and said that in the meantime, you had spoken to your directors and they had advised that it would not be possible to carry out a refund as the transaction had gone through and your company terms and conditions would not allow you to do this. I clarified that as the whole transaction has taken place within the last half an hour over a sales pitch and I have not seen the terms and conditions and I have requested the refund almost immediately then I am sure that it can be done. I stressed that I would rather that you process the refund and only take the booking for myself and once I have seen the paperwork and am comfortable with everything and have had a chance to talk to my friends and we have agreed upon a date, then I will put down a deposit for them.
You said that it may still be difficult to process the refund and that you will need to check with your directors again and I asked for their details so that I could speak to them if it was going to be a problem for you as I am happy to discuss this with them directly. I advised that it should be relatively straightforward to process a refund. it is just the same as you do in the shops. I also clarified that although this was done over the phone with me giving my credit card details, the refund process should still be the same as when you put through the initial transaction.
You advised that you will need to discuss further with your directors and will call me back either by 5pm today or tomorrow. In the meantime you have given me the website details to check the terms and conditions. I stressed that I would like the refund processed by tomorrow and if this was not do ne then I would need to rethink whether I want to accept the prize at all.
I have had a quick browse through your website but unfortunately there is nothing on there about the terms and conditions for those who have won a makeover for 3 people and have been called up over the phone in this way and a booking has been made (and deposits taken) over the phone almost immediately without the winner having time to think about it. There is also nothing on the website about cancellations or refunds if you change your mind within the standard 14 days. As stressed, I have asked for the refund within the first half an hour of your phone call.
Having had more time to think about all of this and in reviewing your website and googling your company and in the drafting of this email, I have now decided that actually I would like to cancel the whole transaction - therefore I would like a refund of the full £135. As I have not received the vouchers or the terms and conditions for this prize yet as the phone call only came in at 3pm and you only put the transaction through at about 3.15pm, then I believe I am under no obligation to continue with this transaction. I was never actually a consumer anyway as you called me to offer me a prize and the transaction is only a refundable deposit.
I would therefore be very grateful if you would confirm that you have cancelled the transaction altogether now and processed the refund f or the full £135 urgently. As I said before if this is a problem with your directors, then I am happy to speak with them directly.
I will also forward this email to Visa so that they are aware that I have asked for a refund of the full £135 from Skylite Studios. If this offer is genuine and I have indeed won a prize, then you will still be able to send me the vouchers and If i decide to accept the prize of voucers (which are valid for 6 months) then I will be able to schedule the appointments mysef at the appropriate time when it would suit me and my friends and at that time, when I make a booking, I can then pay the required deposit.
Thanks once again for calling me and informing me of the prize and I look forward to receiving my refund in the next few days.0 -
my g/f has had a phone call after filling a comp at w w w.myoffers.c o.u k ( w w w.my offers.c o.uk/myoffers/win-perfect-makeover-6927-0.asp?in=1 )
she had a phone call to what i think from skylite studios. she brought 2 places. it sounded wierd to me but she not tell me what she was doing till after the phone call, but when i searched for the comp she filled in it was from Urban Slink w w w.urban slink.c o.uk/Urban_Slink_Homepage .
i think these are like sister company's that draw you in. they are less then 2 miles apart.
this may be a real company but its a scam how they draw you in and at these times how money is now days.
we also got 2 vouchers thats worth 250 pound. would this pay for photos? or is this just a invitation to pull you in more?

Its Safe!!!- I did it and left £45 deposit and at the end they said they'd put it in my account but i decided to use it on a few pics.
I entered my details in a web site competition- I never win so I must admit I was surprised when a lady called me to book me in. The lady was actually really lovely and patient as I had my baby crying so she could hardly hear what I was saying. After my baby had calmed down I called back and they booked me in. I must admit I was a bit worried- but also excited that I'd won.
On the day I was sooooo nervous but the staff were so lovely!!! I felt like a teen after! ok they couldnt make my baby rolls dissappear but i did feel like a star!
At first I had no idea what to bring, and then this lovely lady called me to confirm if I was going and told me exactly what to take. I took my jeans and a white T-shirt, a summer dress which they blew up with a wind machine!!(felt like Marilyn) oh and I took a big furry throw which I did a semi naked pic- you could only see my back (its such a lovely picture!!). I had some with my baby and they played with my baby while I had a few alone (I thought that was very kind)
Its true that not every one can afford them all- but I looked good and a few to take home to look at when I'm old and grey is not a sin. To be honest I would have taken a lot more pictures home if I didnt have baby costs.
In all - I hope anyone who does good has as good of a day as I did. Every one was lovely and professional :-)

Hey guys, I have an appointment with them for this Saturday. I booked on 22nd February for me and my partner. But I haven't heard anything from them since. So I tried calling them to ask for a confirmation today. But all their phones are disconnected and are "busy". Their website has also been taken down, does anyone know whether they have definitely closed down? Also any ideas on how to get my deposit back then?! It was £90 so it's quite a lot..
Thanks0
