0% Balance transfer and purchase cc

Hi everyone

I hope someone can help me shed some light on these type of credit cards as I'm a bit confused.

I've noticed some cards offering free balance transfer, something that was offered before as well but now I don't see any fees on balance transfers

Plus they offer purchase interest free for a period of time.

For example, the following card, if accepted, might give me
20 months balance transfer
6 months purchase

Let's say I get the above features and my limit is 2k

Am I right to understand that for 6 months, I am allowed to make purchases up to 2k and all I have to return is the minimum but before the end of 6 months, I need to repay everything back?

Is for the balance transfer, can I move money, up to 2k, for up to 20 months and just pay the minimum and just make sure I paid the full amount before the end of 20 months?

Plus, if I'm making a balance transfer, let's say from an american express to this barclays cc, I will not be charged any fee?

Thank you

Yup, it is effectively reset, just need to pay off balance before 20m before you start getting interested just be sure Barclays will Xfer from AMEX as some have problems. This is my problem because any card I can get accept on... Can't Xfer from AMEX :(

Thank you, I am currently looking at different cards but they don't mention not supporting amex, for example the santander one says
    https://www.santander.co.uk/personal/credit-cards/everyday-credit-card

You can’t transfer balances from other Santander or cahoot credit cards or from any type of loan or current account
  • Santander does, I phoned up and asked. When you apply don't say you're doing it (Xfer) straight away. Wait till your card comes and then phone up and they can do it. bug on the website.

The bug could be that the web application expects a 16 digit card number. Amex cards only have 15.
