what are the implications of changing my garage to a study?

Hi there

I have a garage, seperete to the house and I was thinking of boarding it out, to insulate it, and perhaps either use it as a hobby room/study, or perhaps just to store my hobby stuff, away from cluttering up the house

Is there any legal or Need to do if I want to do either of these options

doubt it, i know of a few people who have turned their garage into reptile rooms for their pets and not had to get permission. Basically all you'll be doing is 'decorating' the interior. you're not making any structural changes

Talk to your Local Planning Dept. There are restrictions in place. eg for my area, officially if you haven't got space for 1.5 cars in your front garden, then removing or changing the garage "use" would not be allowed. Unofficially you can get away with it, but if you're are planning to sale the house in the future you may encounter problems.
