I have had a leak that looks to have come from a shower. I only noticed the crack in the grout in the corner of the shower a week or two ago. Was about two foot long. So have fixed that now.
Outside in the hall was a storage unit. It was moved as we where about to decorate. And I noticed what looked like a damp patch on the chipboard flooring. Touched it and it was dry. And then I noticed it looked the gloss on the skirting had lifted. Touched it and wood crumble. Check on the other side of the wall and in roughly the same area is a another patch of wood work in the same condition. About 2 feet away from the damaged wood work is a crack in the wall stating at about 5ft and runs down the wall. Not sure if that is related or a red herring. All is dry.
I looked down stairs and in my larder which would be below the leak area. I can see a small brown stain running along the ceiling.
I painted both the areas with the damaged skirting board 4-5 years ago and there was no problem then.
Now I am stumped. Who do I need in to look at it and to get it repaired. Am I silly to be worried about rafters. And am I able to claim on my insurance even though it historical and I had no idea.
Thanks in advance
