Hrt

Hi all
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere I was unable to find anything on it.

I have been put on HRT by the GP and just wondered if anyone has any experience or know of anyone who has taken it. ie: pros and cons etc. My worry is the horror stories you read but have also read positive reviews that some have written.

I have a low dose of Premique 0.3/1.5mg. I know that every woman is different but would you/did you take HRT and if so was it the right decision for you?

Thank you in advance for any advice :)

I did take it for a few years. I was very good and I felt it improved my quality of life dramatically.
No more drenching sweats or anxiety. I stopped because I started to bruise easily and my Dr thought it was a paradoxical reaction.
The hot flushes came back and I reckon that the easy bruising is a side effect of my inhaler medication.
I haven't gone back on it because I can't face the withdrawal again and I'm a bit older now so the sweats aren't quite so bad.
Go for it and enjoy your life again!

Thank you so much Arty. It's the hot sweats that are making me constantly :(. I think I'm going to give it a go.
    Thanks again

I’ve been on it for years and feel good. I am now on a very low doseage but don’t want to come off it completely as I dread the thought of hot sweats again.

    Hi penny and thank you
It's good to know that others are on it or have had it and been fine with it. My sister keeps telling me I will grow a beard :rotfl:

I was on hrt for 20 years from the age of 33 due to early menopause
I felt really well on it and was able to sleep right through without having to change the sheets
Sadly I had to come off it 6 years ago as I had a stroke and hrt is considered a contributory factor I had been a smoker for many years but had given up the year before and in my opinion this was the more likely cause
To be honest if my gp would allow it I would go back on it tomorrow ! Im still having awful flushes and night sweats and dont remember the last time I slept through the night
Life was much nicer on HRT

    Ive coped without it

Yes the sweats can be totally unbearable, I wear just a polo shirt all year, with just a cardi and when a flush takes me, I cant strip off fast enough. But Im coming 55 this year and hopefully not much longer to cope

They are the only side effects Ive had with the menopause

I was subscribed HRT by a locus, who I spent at least all of 5 minutes with, so didn't feel I had been given enough information to take it

I think if I had a proper consultation I might be more open about taking it, its supposed to be miraculous and also protect against osteoporosis

Thank you both so much. I’m hoping that the HRT will stop the night sweats. It’s been awful. I have the fan on me all night and wake up constantly.
    Fingers crossed eh
    Thanks again

Yes I have the fan on and off all night long now.
    I'm 58 and it's still going on!
You will sleep much better on hrt, I'd forgotten about that benefit.
