Car insurance and sp30

Options
Have trawled the net and cant find the answer, does anyone know?

Hubby got a SP30 this year, first in 20 years on a vehicle he uses for work. He also has another car which is rarely used, both are coming up for insurance renewal soon. Does he need to declare to both insurance companies or does it just relate to the vehicle caught speeding?

Many thanks

The SP30 goes on the licence ... so it is for the 'person'. Needs to be declared on both.

If it was a driverless car and he was in the back seat he won't need to report it the car will have got the points under the new government 3 strikes and your scrapped scheme for self drive vehicles.

If however he was in control both insurers will want to know about it. It wouldn't matter if he got the points on a moped or a Maserati they are insuring the risk of the driver.

When the insurance company asks him "Have you been convicted of any motoring offences in the last 5 years" (or words to that effect) how do you think he should answer?

Sometimes the reason you can't find the answer is because it's so obvious nobody thought it needed to be provided.

It goes on his license so has to be declared to both. Also just in case you weren't aware, if he has an accident or claim in the work vehicle he also has to declare that when renewing his private car insurance and vice versa. As a HGV driver if I have a claim in a lorry, even though it isn't my personal vehicle and is a completely different class to a car I have to inform my insurers for my car insurance. If you don't they can still find out as the details of the claim will be on the MIB database.

You claim to have a vocational entitlement but can't even spell licence.

Yawn. You claim to have a life but that post shows otherwise.
