Hi the lifetime guarantee started in 2010 and ran until some time in 2014. It covered the car for some issues up until 100,000 miles but only for the first owner.
Also each year when serviced the cover had to be reactivated by a vauxhall dealership .Even if you didn't get the car serviced by vauxhall they would inspect the car and as long you could provide proof that it had been serviced with genuine vauxhall parts the dealership would renew the cover for another year.
I assume from the fact your having to ask about it that either yours wasn't covered in the first place or that you have not reactivated the cover on an annual basis.

Vauxhall stopped the lifetime warranty a few years ago.
They figured out that it generated far too much customer dissatisfaction when they refused to cover the excluded (i.e. virtually everything that could go wrong or wear out) items.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

If he had bought the car from new in early 2014 he would probably have been covered.....but he would have had to follow the annual renewal process to keep the cover running.
Many low mileage cars that were bought between 2010 and 2014 and are still owed by the original owner are at present still covered and being repaired for the limited range of faults covered.
