Help! Need to strip wallpaper from plasterboard...

Hi,

Can anyone give me any tips on how I can remove wallpaper that has been papered directly onto unsealed plasterboard? We have removed wallpaper elsewhere in the house and ended up having to have the walls skimmed. Having spent way more than we originally wanted to doing this we thought we would try and just paint over the wallpaper in the bedrrom. Unfortunately this has not been succesful so we are now having to strip the wallpaper off and wanted to know if anyone can advise the best way of doing this without damaging the plasterboard? Curse these builders that cut corners by doing things like this, I know it saves time and money for them but how can you live in a house that doesn't have proper plastered walls! Do they think people will never redecorate! aaagggghhhh!

if you manage to get the paper off without tearing the plasterboard paper, then I wouldnt PVA first, I would definately Undercoat it using an oilbase UC like bespoke said, prior to hanging lining paper.
If, you do get the paper off, and there is some torn bits, you have to lightly sand them down, but if you go too mad, they will tear up again, so this is where the diluted PVA comes in handy.
You then dab some PVA (diluted) onto the teared bits, leave to dry, then fill as necessary.

Surely the whole room cant be plasterboarded?, if there is only one wall, couldnt you (again where the PVA comes in handy) PVA (diluted) over the one plasterboarded wall, then line on top?
